Quick and Easy Chocolate Cherry Scone Recipe

Servings: 12 scones
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour OR 2 cups Krusteaz Gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ cup cold butter cut into ½-inch cubes
  • ¼ cup dried cherries coarsely chopped
  • 3 oz. semisweet chocolate coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup whipping cream divided

Equipment

  • wax paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Cut butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender until crumbly and mixture resembles small peas. Freeze 5 minutes.
  3. Add in cherries, chocolate, and ¾ cup + 2 Tbsp. cream, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  4. Turn dough onto wax paper; gently press or pat dough into a 7-inch round (dough will be crumbly). Using a circular cutter, cut into 12 scones, gathering scraps and re-patting as necessary.
  5. Place scones 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet. Brush tops with remaining 2 Tbsp. cream just until moistened.
  6. Bake at 450°F for 13 – 15 minutes or until golden.
